What You'll Do

As a Technology Procurement Specialist, you’ll be the go-to person when clients need to purchase technology hardware, software, and equipment. As each request comes in – either from the Accent team or directly from the client -- you’ll verify what they’re looking for, present options and pricing, and take accepted quotes through the purchasing process.

Who You'll Work With

In this role, you’ll interact with multiple teams and individuals internally. They’ll place their trust in you to quickly procure what’s needed, as well as provide guidance on new products and purchasing options.

You’ll develop relationships with clients who will sometimes come to you directly with requests that will require you to ask questions to dig into their core need so that you can identify the right product.

You’ll be the main point of contact with our vendors, strengthening relationships as well as figuring out how best to do business with them. You'll stay up-to-date on their product lines, configurations, and partner programs to ensure our clients are getting the right solution at the right price.

What Your Learning Curve Looks Like

The first thing you’ll do will be to learn our systems and get a good understanding of how we deliver IT services to clients.

Our procurement specialist will show you the ropes, and you’ll spend time with our Technology Advisor Manager (who will also be your supervisor.) As you learn about different technology products, you’ll have the opportunity to earn manufacturer certifications that will validate that you know your stuff.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll know you’re successful in this role when the majority of your quotes are accepted, turned into orders, and quickly fulfilled.

You’ll also get a little high from being the Encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to knowing about technology products and services (in a humble way, of course).

Who’s Perfect For This Role?

This role is for you if…

This role is perfect for you if you’re a great communicator and you like to soak up and share information. You’re the type of person who reaches out to others and people frequently tell you that you ask good questions.

While you aren’t necessarily technically trained, you love learning about technology and have a basic understanding of how computers work.

This role is NOT for you if…

You don’t like people, communicating or technology, or if you don’t want to be accountable for results.

Where You Can Go From Here

We’re revamping this position, so the first thing you can do is to contribute ideas that will make technology sourcing a smooth-running process at Accent. (You don’t have to have those ideas right now. They’ll come to you as you get a few months under your belt.)

Beyond that, this role could be a stepping-stone to a technical or support position if you become inspired to further your education and training.

If you were born to be a sourcing rockstar, you’ll stay challenged and stimulated by keeping up with technology trends and the continuous stream of new products that go with them.
