Full-time: $83k - $114k annually • Benefits: 401K, Dental, Medical, Vision, Life • Generous reimbursement for training and applicable education
As a Professional Services Engineer, you’ll be implementing technology improvement projects that include building servers, configuring network hardware, configuring cloud services, and more.
As you take client IT environments up to the next level, you’ll combine your familiarity with existing technology with your ability to quickly learn new technologies, to move through each project plan and all the technical steps that are required to complete the project objectives. As you meet each milestone to take the project across the finish line, you’ll grow your expertise and share your knowledge to build team strength and assist the support team that will be managing the technology.
The Professional Services Manager will be your direct supervisor and your go-to person when you have questions or want feedback.
When projects are initiated, you’ll work with the Technology Advisor, Client Service Manager and the Elite team that supports the client to discuss the scope of the project, the client’s current environment and the proposed changes. The Technology Architect may call on you for input for the project plan.
Once the plan is drafted, the Project Manager will ask you to participate in a kickoff call with the client. As the project proceeds, you’ll communicate progress to both the internal team and the client point-of-contact.
When the project is closed you’ll make sure that there’s a good knowledge transfer to the Elite team, by creating thorough documentation and gathering any supporting materials or training that might be needed.
Whether it’s to get their input or collaborate on a large project, you’ll have lots of interaction with the other Professional Services Engineers. Weekly meetings will give you the opportunity to discuss up-and -coming projects, and to stay on top of the latest technology.
The first thing you’ll do will be to learn our systems and get a good understanding of how we deliver IT services to clients. Then you’ll get familiar with our technology tools and core processes. An important part of understanding how Accent operates will be to learn how everyone works together.
In your first 60 – 90 days you’ll spend a lot of time with the Professional Services Manager to learn about Accent’s project process, from planning to completion. You’ll also become familiar with our baselines for network structure and how evolving trends are changing what normal looks like. You’ll learn your way around our project management tools.
You can expect to be involved with different types of technical training as you tackle new projects. Sometimes these will be whole team training sessions to make sure everybody has a basic understanding of a new technology. At other times, the particular projects you’re working on will uncover needs for training.
When you go home at night, you’ll have a feeling of accomplishment when you were able to proceed through the steps that were needed to get to a project milestone. Individual projects typically last for three to six months and some even longer, so while there’s celebration at the finish, you recognize small victories along the way.
As you get more and more experience with various projects under your belt, you’ll gain confidence in your ability to apply what you know to different situations. When you put the finishing touches on your project documentation, you’re happy to share what you know.
No one needs to wonder about the status of any of your projects because your proactive communication and notes relay everything the team or client needs to know about what’s happening at any particular time.
This would be a great job for you if you have a solid background in networks, cloud administration, and Microsoft 365, plus a good understanding of how cloud and on-premise IT environments mingle.
While you’re confident in your skills and even adventurous when it comes to facing something you’ve never seen before, you’re the first one to admit that you don’t know everything. You ask questions and seek help when you need it. At the same time, you don’t hesitate to help and mentor others.
You’re task-oriented and get stuff done. When things don’t go as planned, you’re flexible and a good problem solver.
You understand that if there’s some kind of problem going on, a little bit more communication is going to be the best first step to get things back on track.
If you don’t like variety and stepping out of your comfort zone makes you nervous, this probably isn’t a great fit for you.
Accent is a growing company, so there will be opportunities in the future to advance within the Professional Services Team. Many of our projects have to do with cybersecurity, so if security lights your fire, you can develop a specialty in the field. Another move might be to become a Technology Architect.
