Virtualization Executive
Briefing
September 30,
2009 11:30am-1:00pm
In this tough economic
environment, your IT needs to do more with less.
Come see a demonstration of how a virtualized
infrastructure can enable you to see immediate,
tangible and quantifiable cost savings from your server
to your desktop.
You’ll learn how virtualization
can:
| • |
Reduce
hardware and operating costs by as much as 50% and
energy costs by 80%, saving more than $3,000 per
year for every server workload
virtualized |
| • |
Decrease downtime and improve
reliability with business continuity and built-in
data disaster recovery |
| • |
Increase utilization of existing
hardware from 5-15% up to 80% |
| • |
Reduce
hardware requirements by a 10:1 ratio or better

Note from the
President |

I would like to open this month’s newsletter
by thanking Derek Woolf for his 10 years of service with
Accent! He is an incredible asset to our organization
and we are thankful that we have him. Many of you deal
with Derek on a day-to-day basis, so you know that you
won’t find a harder working, dedicated, family man with
more integrity than Derek.
Thanks Derek
for all you do!
We have a
couple of important events that are coming up in
September that I would like to draw your attention to:
September
24th — Vistage, the world’s leading Chief Executive
Organization, is holding an exclusive session with Dr.
Pete Johnson at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario on
Planning and Positioning for a Successful Recovery. I
have been a member of Vistage since 2001 and would
recommend checking it out at this meeting. For more
information and to register, click this link.
September
30th — We are hosting a Virtualization Lunch and
Learn from 11:30am - 1:00pm at our office. I know many
of you are not clear on what Virtualization really is
and why you need it, so I encourage you to attend. This
technology has really taken off and provides amazing
benefits for businesses large and small. In the past 30
days, we have had several instances where downtime could
have been avoided if virtualization had been
implemented. Take a look at the sidebar for more details
and join us if you’re interested in learning more about
virtualization and its benefits.

Social
networking: Is your identity at
risk? reprinted
with permission from HP |
|
The total number of users on the social
networking site Facebook has now soared above the 200
million mark. Just to put that into perspective: if
Facebook were a country, it would be the fifth largest
on Earth, after China, India, the U.S. and Indonesia.
According to a recent report by ComScore, the number of
European Facebook subscribers has grown by 314% over the
past year to nearly 100 million users.
Due to the
site’s popularity, many organizations (including HP)
have recognized Facebook’s value in promoting their
products and services. And everyone from British actor
Stephen Fry to President Barack Obama has a Facebook
page. |

Survive the
E-Mail Flood with Better Storage |
If each e-mail was a
drop of water, your company would likely find itself in
the midst of a flood. That's because e-mail has moved
beyond business convenience into the role of strategic
communication tool.
Along with
all of its tremendous benefits, however, e-mail systems
have also introduced various challenges. Not only does
your business need near-constant uptime on this
mission-critical resource -- without negatively
impacting network performance -- you also need help with
complex challenges, such as:
Storage - Businesses' need for e-mail
storage resources is increasing almost 30 percent
annually. Why? |
