Note from the
President |
|
Man is it hot! I hope you are all enjoying
the INDOORS lately because I think there is plenty more
HOT to come.
I will tell
you what is HOT now. Virtualization is really taking
off. We find that the concept of sharing one physical
computer and dicing it up into multiple virtual
computers in one is a really cost effective way to
support local and remote applications. Many of our
clients are taking full advantage of this technology and
using it for a multitude of different solutions.
Another HOT
area is Cloud Computing. Cloud computing is basically
using software on an as-needed basis and paying a
service fee instead of owning the actual computers and
software. There are dollars to be saved if the provider
of the application in the cloud prices it right. The
technology puts the burden on the Internet and the
ability of IT Service Providers to connect the dots and
make sure the endpoint is managed correctly. This idea
has been brewing for a few years now, but we are finally
seeing some adoption of this solution.
I want to
thank the individuals who attended our Executive
Briefings this month. We had great turnouts for our
Internet Filtering and our Protect Yourself Recovery
seminars. With both events, we had to schedule a second
session to handle the interest. I am so glad these
sessions are providing value to those who attend.
It’s not too
late to register for the second Protect Yourself
Recovery seminar that will be held this Thursday, July
30th. If you’d like to come, send Courtney a quick email
at CourtneyK@TeamAccent.com
and she’ll add you to the list.

Business value
of Social Media part 2: blogging reprinted with permission from the HP
Small Business Center |
|
No doubt, you’ve heard the term web log,
better known as blog, but you may not know how blogging
can actually benefit your business. By definition, a
blog is a website that hosts entries—or posts—of
commentary, descriptions of events, graphics, videos and
more. No longer just a way for controversial thoughts to
be heard, small and large businesses everywhere have
begun to blog to build brand awareness, interact with
their customers on a more personal level, and elevate
their status in the industry as a thought-leader
In part one
of this article, The
Business value of Social Media Part I: Online
networking, we explored how free networking
sites like Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin are crucial
to helping your business thrive. Here, we’ll show you
how blogging has gone from being an online diary of
sorts, to an online marketing tool that helps you gain
credibility and position yourself and your business as
leaders in your industry. We’ll also provide a few tips
for getting started, should you decide what millions of
others already have—that blogging is good for
business.
To
blog or not to blog? In order to answer this
question, you must ask yourself if you or someone in
your organization can commit a few hours per week to
posting quality content, interacting with your readers
and keeping up with industry news by reading other blogs
and news sites. |

The 2009
Recovery Plan: What It Means For Your
Business reprinted
with permission from HP |
|
When the going gets tough, the tough have a
smart game plan. And with over 2 million jobs lost in
2008, the situation is definitely getting tough.
Fortunately,
the US has relieved our 26 million small
businesses—those which gross $15 million or less in
profits annually[1]–in more ways than one with its 2009
Recovery Plan.
The new plan
not only gives small businesses tax breaks and credits,
it also plans to give your customers more money by
providing them jobs. In the meantime, though, one of the
best ways you can take advantage of the plan is by
carefully investing in the future with updated
technology and energy efficient solutions.
Even for
larger businesses that don’t directly benefit from the
recovery plan, making these types of changes while
business is slower can prepare you for when the economy
picks up. |
