September 2014 has been a roller coaster - Note from the President

This month, Trinity Children’s Foundation held their annual golf tournament. I have supported and participated in the event for at least 10 years. Over the past three years, I have been the Chairman of the Golf Committee. First of all, I am not really a "golfer." Like many of us, I am a “hacker” (not the computer kind) but I have fun. This year, with the help of Mike Delehanty, Corey Kaufman, and Derek Woolf, we won! Derek and I had a few really good shots, but Corey and Mike carried us to a win. Of course it is just for bragging rights, but it is still fun to win after all of these years. A big thank you to the Trinity Children’s Foundation for doing such great work and putting on another fantastic event!

Last week, Jed Shafer of West End Family Counseling Services retired. Jed is an awesome individual who has been helping families in the Inland Empire since the 1980’s. The retirement is special to me since West End Family Counseling Services was one of my very first IT Support customers dating back to about 1990 or so. (In the early days, I was VC3’s one and only technician!) I used to help them with MAS90 accounting software and general network systems. Today, they are one of our Protech All IT clients. Congratulations Jed – you will be missed…wait…maybe I should retire too!

Cherish life. On September 25th, my loving 71-year old mother passed away suddenly. For the latter part of her life, she had been dealing with health issues, but nothing that made me suspect that she would pass so soon. My sister and I both were very shocked to hear that she just dropped to the floor and was gone. Of course, many thoughts go through the mind of a person who has lost a loved one when you hear the news. I thought, “I just spoke to her a week ago and she seemed just fine.” None of us can predict when our number is to be called. The only thing you can do is make the best use of the time you have.

Again, cherish life. Get the things you want done accomplished and spend lots of time with your family!
